Custom Bids

Overview

Custom bids let you manually configure supply and demand bids for individual units. For the full reference, see Custom Bids in the Bid Manager reference tab (see also the bid type overview on the Bid Manager interface page).

What It Is

Custom bids are manually configured supply and/or demand bids applied at the individual unit level. A supply bid causes the unit to discharge when the market price exceeds the bid price; a demand bid (for Energy Storage Systems) causes the unit to charge when the market price falls below the bid price. Custom bids are authored in a separate application within the Bid Manager tab.

When to Use It

Use Custom Bids when you need unit-specific bid strategies that differ from historical or typical bid profiles — for example, ESS/BESS charging and discharging strategies, or overrides for individual units with non-standard market behaviour.

Step-by-Step Guide

Market Rules for Generating Units

  • Supply Bid: The unit discharges if the market price is above the bid price.
  • Demand Bid (for Energy Storage System): The unit charges if the market price is below the bid price.
